Neurovascular Interactions & Brain Blood Flow Control
Ion Channels and Signal Transduction in Vascular Physiology
At the Harraz Lab, we study the brain's most vital supply line: its blood flow. We focus on the cellular sensors—specialized ion channels within the microvasculature—that act as traffic directors, ensuring critical organs get exactly the nutrients they need, exactly when they need them. By decoding these neurovascular signals, we are working to understand how blood flow is seamlessly controlled in healthy physiology, and how to repair these networks when they break down in disease.
